Biography Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, née Chopra, is an Indian actress, model, and singer who was born on July 18, 1982. Chopra is one of India’s highest-paid and most popular celebrities, having won the Miss World contest in 2000. She’s won a slew of awards, including two National Film Awards and five Filmfares. In 2016, the Indian government awarded her the Padma Shri, Time named her one of the world’s 100 most important individuals, and Forbes named her one of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women in the following two years.

Chopra traveled to the United States to study when she was 13 years old, living with her aunt and attending schools in Newton, Massachusetts, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a brief sojourn in Queens, New York, because her aunt’s family moved frequently. She took part in various theatre plays in Massachusetts and studied Western classical music and choir singing. Chopra encountered racial challenges as a teenager in the United States, and was ridiculed by an African-American classmate for being Indian.

Chopra was cast as the female protagonist in Abbas-romantic Mustan’s thriller Humraaz (2002), in which she was to make her film debut, after winning Miss India World. This, however, fell through for a variety of reasons: she claimed the production clashed with her schedule, while the producers said they had to recast since Chopra had other commitments. Her movie debut was in the Tamil film Thamizhan in 2002, when she played the love interest of Vijay’s protagonist. The film’s wit and dialogue were praised in a review published in The Hindu, although the reviewer felt Chopra’s performance was limited from an acting standpoint.

Recent Work

Chopra’s only release of 2020 was the Netflix kids superhero film We Can Be Heroes directed by Robert Rodriguez.
