Baba Ijesha Traumatised In Detention Lawyer Writes Police

Adesina Ogunlana, the counsel for Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James Omiyinka, also known as Baba Ijesha, has confirmed that his client has been traumatized while in police custody.

Since his arrest in April for allegedly defiling the 14-year-old foster child of a famous comedian Princess, Baba Ijesha has been in police custody.

In a letter to the Lagos police commissioner, Ogunlana claimed that his client should be released on bail and that his client’s colleague, Yomi Fabiyi, is willing to serve as surety. In his letter, Ogunlana also stated that the accused has become abnormally weak and lean while in custody.

“We are aware that a legal opinion on our client’s case was released about two weeks ago, disclosing potential bailable character charges.”

According to all reports, the inquiry into his case has ended, and it is inconceivable that the provision of legal advice will now be used as a pretext for the refusal of bail, as you have claimed throughout the news.

We respectfully submit that Mr Olanrewaju James Omiyinka’s continued detention at your SCID Panti Yaba facility for the past thirty days is a gross violation of his basic human rights as recognized by the 1999 constitution, the nation’s legal architecture.

When I met with Omiyinka today, he looked traumatized, emaciated, and walked with a limp in his right leg, accompanied by his thespian colleague and ready surety, Mr Yomi Fabiyi. Mr Omiyinka is not a flight risk, sir, and he is ready to face trial,” he said.
