According to accounts, his convoy was ambushed by a group of armed gunmen on Tuesday at Eke-Agu Market crossroads in Abatete, Idemili North Local Area.

According to The PUNCH, Philip Udala, the chairman of Nigerian National League club Udala FC, has been confirmed killed and his bones have been burned by unknown gunmen in Anambra State.
When their convoy ran into a squad of armed gunmen at Eke-Agu Market junction in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Philip and his club’s team manager, Godsent Eriobu, were killed.
Our source learned that the militants had apparently attacked a nearby police station and were fleeing the area when they came across the Udala convoy in Abatete.
Obinna Dike, the chairman of the Anambra Independent Football League, confirmed Udala’s death on Wednesday, saying the state’s amateur league has lost two vital members.
“It’s really awful that our greatest worries are coming true, and we’re losing them,” Dike added.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Anambra State Command, confirmed the incident but did not provide specifics on casualties.
