Manchester United players and staff were astonished to learn that under-fire manager Ole Gunnar, who also travelled back to Norway amid the club’s crisis, had given them a week off.

After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer travelled back to Norway with his family on Monday November8, Manchester United players and staff were allegedly surprised to be handed a week off. While several of United’s players were away on international duty, the under-fire manager chose to give the remainder of the players and his backroom staff a break rather than have them train at Carrington.

The decision was described as unexpected, given the predicament at Old Trafford following a terrible run of results.

Before flying to his hometown of Kristiansund, the Norwegian was photographed at Manchester airport with his wife Silje and their boys Noah and Elijah.

Solskjaer has been chastised for losing six of his last twelve games, as well as the way in which City and Liverpool were humiliated at home.

However, club sources confirmed on Monday night that the 48-year-position old’s is not in jeopardy and that he will be in command for the trip to Watford a week from Saturday.
